October 1-14, 2001. The Democratic Development of Youth project is being conducted for high school students in Lankaran . The Lankaran School #4 hosts the courses. The project is financed by ACCELS (American Councils for Cultural Exchange and Language Studies). Students from different schools attend the courses. These courses will strengthen the knowledge of the young generation about democracy.

September 25, 2001. Lankaran State Dram Theatre opened the new season. The play bay a famous Azerbaijani poet and writer S. Rustam was staged. The head of the theatre Elshad Zeynalov welcomed the theatre lovers and talked about the rich history of Lanakaran theatre. At present there are 2 Peoples Artists of Azerbaijan working in the theatre. Unfortunately the theatre has begun the new season with several problems, the main problem is the serious need for repair.

September 20, 2001. The presentation of the Lankaran Branch of the Azerbaijan Proprietors Confederations Association was held in Lankaran. This is the first office of the Association in the Southern region of the republic. The honorary president of the Azerbaijani Proprietors Association, first deputy of the Azerbaijan Minister of Foreign Affairs Mahmud Mammadquliyev, the head of the Lankaran Executive Power Yashar Rzayev and other officials and guests took part in the presentation ceremony. Shakir Latifov was elected the head of the Lankarani Branch of the association.

September 18, 2001. Members of the Milli Majlis (National Parliament) from Lankaran Aghakarim Sharifov and Miri Qambarov hold meetings with their electors. At the meeting the parliament members answered the questions of their electors and discussed their problems.

September 10, 2001. The Health Department was opened in the Lankaran City Municipality. The Department will work on the development of the health services and the solution of the main problems facing Lankaran. At the same time they will carry out new plans for better health standards in Lankaran and the construction of the new hospitals. Health Department works in close relationships with the local hospitals and other medical institutions.
